Better chemistryfor a better world.
We manufacture biodegradable, non-bioaccumulating polyaspartates — amino-acid polymers built from L-aspartic acid by fermentation. One platform chemistry that prevents scale, stabilizes nitrogen, and lifts crop yields across five industries, replacing the persistent chemicals the world is moving away from.
The platform
One green chemistry, five industries.
Most performance chemicals do their job and then persist — in soil, in water, in the systems they were meant to protect. NanoChem was founded on the opposite premise.
Our core technology is the polyaspartate: an anionic amino-acid polymer derived from L-aspartic acid and produced at industrial scale by fermentation. It binds scale-forming ions, disperses solids, and boosts nutrient uptake — then biodegrades.
By tuning molecular weight and formulation, that single platform becomes a fit for agriculture, water treatment, oil & gas, detergents, and nutraceuticals — each backed by our own R&D and decades of field data.
From a renewable amino-acid feedstock to a finished, market-ready product — every step runs in-house at our Peru, Illinois plant.
Controlled thermal polymerization to target molecular weight.
Liquid or dry, custom blends, nitrogen stabilizers, beadlets.
Validated across 40+ crops and five industrial markets.
Markets
Where the chemistry goes to work
The same biodegradable polymer, tuned for five very different problems — from scale in an oil well to nitrogen in a cornfield.

Agriculture
Magnet® nutrient enhancer and nitrogen stabilizers proven to raise yields across 900+ trials and 40+ crops.

Water Treatment
Phosphorus-free polyaspartate that matches polyacrylate scale control at just 10 ppm — and biodegrades.

Oil & Gas
Biodegradable, non-bioaccumulating scale inhibitors in custom molecular weights for sensitive environments.

Detergents
An amino-acid builder that replaces non-biodegradable scale inhibitors for film-free, spot-free washing.

Food & Nutraceuticals
Beadlets and combustion-driven spray drying that protect potency and control release of active ingredients.

NanoChem operates its own R&D labs and a 110,000 ft² manufacturing campus with rail service in Peru, Illinois — the same site where thermal polyaspartate was pioneered.
Why polyaspartate
Performance that doesn't persist
The properties that make our chemistry work are the same ones that let it break down safely afterward.
Biodegradable
Breaks down in soil and water instead of accumulating — a true alternative to legacy scale inhibitors.
Non-bioaccumulating
Phosphorus-free and non-bioaccumulating, cleared for use in the most sensitive environments.
Fermentation-derived
Made from renewable L-aspartic acid at industrial scale — green chemistry from the feedstock up.
Custom-engineered
Tuned molecular weights, liquid or dry, custom blends and colors — built around your application.
